What’s New in Countertop Design
Each year, the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS 2025) displays innovative residential design trends from fixtures and colors to fabrics, countertops and more. For those approaching a new build or looking to update a well-loved space, it’s a wonderful way to get inspired.
For KBIS 2025, our design team captured four distinct trends impacting countertop choices. Explore these looks and how to achieve them with beautiful laminate selections from Wilsonart and Formica Group as well as FENIX® Innovative Surfaces.
- 3702FX Mediterranean Marble – Formica Group
- 4925 Calcutta Marble – Wilsonart
- FENIX® J0754 Blu Fes
- The Summer Romance kitchen at Café featured biophilic colors of muted greens, blues and peach.
- Toto introduced four vibrantly colorful sinks, with each shade capturing the essence of a season of nature. The Forest Green, Mandarin Orange, Scarlet Red and Ash Blue sinks were paired with faucet finishes and drain covers.
- Luxury brand House of Rohl showcased a sculpture of colorful, matte bathtubs.
Where white and gray kitchens once ruled, many displays at KBIS 2025 focused on color stories. From moody neutrals to dark, desaturated hues, color selection is becoming more personalized and nuanced. As far as particular shades, anything goes! Our design team did see a notable focus on wellness hues like nature-inspired greens, warm whites and calming beige that complement deep browns, blues and greens.
Color Spotlight on Rich Browns
- FENIX® J0720 Nero Ingo countertop
- 5010 Drama Marble – Wilsonart
- Miralis’ kitchens showcased functionality combined with modern aesthetics. This moody gally kitchen featured cabinetry clad in FENIX® J0749 Cacao Orinoco.
- This Ann Sacks Art Deco-inspired vanity area utilized deep red-brown ceramic, rich walnut wood and a brown velvet chair on a Rosso Levanto marble mosaic floor.
- Beauteam German Kitchen Tailor focused on luxury minimalist kitchens using hand-picked materials to create a unique experience.
There’s a warming trend happening in residential design featuring rich, deep browns with cocoa and red-based tones. Many homeowners are looking to wood cabinets and rich brown stone surfaces to define their spaces, paring luxurious brown and natural green hues for a biophilic palette. Not only do wood and brown tones add a sense of elegance and stability to any space, but they also convey a cozy vibe that welcomes family and friends.
Statement Stones Continue to Rule

- 7404FX Neapolitan Stone – Formica Group

- House of Rohl featured this deep green breccia stone worktop.
- A vein-cut Nubo Verde tiled shower at Kohler made a statement in green, white and black.
Statement stones were everywhere at KBIS 2025. These eye-catching looks featured bold veining in a wide range of colors, many of them drawing inspiration from nature.
